Meet Joseph from Miticharaka, Tana River – A Journey of Hope

We met Joseph, a 6-year-old boy from Miticharaka village in Tana River, walking barefoot for nearly 12 kilometers just to get to school. His tiny feet were dusty and cracked, but his spirit was unshaken. He walks this long path every day, not because he has to, but because he dreams of a better future.

When we learned that Joseph wasn’t alone — that he had five siblings facing the same reality — we knew we had to do something. We got each of them a pair of shoes. The joy on their faces was indescribable. But what we discovered next broke our hearts even more.

None of the children in the village have shoes.
Many walk long distances barefoot. Some give up on school entirely. And tragically, many young girls fall into early pregnancies, driven by the harsh grip of poverty and lack of opportunity.

This is bigger than one family.
This is about an entire village needing hope, dignity, and opportunity.
